Every unit has a full private bathroom,
refrigerator, and microwave. All units are furnished with a double drawer
bed, dresser, desk, two position chair and accessories.
There are two coin operated laundry
facilities, two community rooms, one full community kitchen and an elevator
guaranteeing facility-wide accessibility. The community rooms have tables,
chairs, arm chairs and big screen TV with cable.
Every room has a telephone jack and
cable outlet if you choose to purchase these utilities.
A free phone is available for local
calls and there is a pay phone on the 2nd floor.
LOCATION
Y-House is located on the corner of
Prospect and Mason Streets. By living in a central location, services and
activities are readily available. Most of the services and activities are
located within walking distance including:
- Transportation - NW CT Transit and EJ
Kelly Transit
- Entertainment - The Center for
Performing Arts and the Warner Theater
- Financial Institutions
- Food - Reasonably priced restaurants,
soup kitchen and grocery stores

RENT
Y-House rents are $485 per month.
Eleven units are HUD subsidized. The
maximum tenant yearly income for a HUD subsidized unit is approximately $18,000 per year.
The maximum tenant yearly income for all
other units is $30,350
Heat, hot water and electricity are all
included in the cost of the rent.

Support Services
Coordinator
Y-House employs a part time Support
Services Coordinator. Our Services Coordinator assists tenants in a variety of
ways such as:
- Employment assistance
- Food Pantry
- Education assistance
- Assistance in coordination of
transportation
- Coordination of additional services
with other agencies
- The Services Coordinator organizes
Y-House events, such as: Christmas parties, picnics, special events, and
informational gatherings with speakers.
Resident's Association
Y-House Resident's Association meets
monthly to gather information to keep Y-House staff aware of the residents'
changing needs. Meetings are attended by the Property Manager and Support
Services Coordinator. All Residents are invited to attend.
YMCA Membership
YMCA adult membership is included with
tenancy ($456 yearly value + $60 joiner's fee savings). The YMCA offers a
state-of-the-art fitness center, aerobics room, a pool, gymnasium, and
racquetball. After a workout, women can relax in the sauna, and men can relax
in the steam room. For no charge, new tenants can make an appointment with a
Fitness Instructor for a free personalized training session.
