The Winchester Youth Service Bureau is located at and is a part of The
Northwest CT YMCA in Winsted at 480 Main Street in Winsted, CT.
GOALS:
- To assist young people and their families through difficult life
experiences.
- To assist in improving the quality of life of your constituents.
- To facilitate families in resolving conflicts.
- To assist families involved in the juvenile justice system.
- To increase awareness regarding substance abuse in young people
- To keep children safe!
- To enhance our communities.

About the WYSB
The WYSB has been serving the Children and Families of the Winchester/Winsted
area for over 15 years! We strive to make our area a better place for all
families through programs and counseling.

- Camp Rising Star
- Camp Rising Star is supervised by therapeutic recreation specialist,
Liz Langevin. every year in conjunction with the YMCA camp TORYMCA. This program is
aimed at developing social skills, increasing self-esteem, self-awareness, and
resolving conflicts. It is based on a behavior modification program that
rewards positive behavior in order to get the youth's behavior to become more
appropriate. Open to children from 4 to 14 years old.
- The After School Fun Club
- Based on the same premise as the Summer Fun Club, The After School Fun
Club is the Fall/Winter/Spring component of the WYSB.
- Infant/Toddler/Parent Play Groups
- A therapeutic recreational program aimed at developing healthy family
relationships. These programs are held throughout the year.
- Youth and Family Therapy
- The WYSB offers a full array of counseling options, including short-term
youth and family counseling. Please call for more details.
- Community Awareness
- Through workshops, radio and cable television shows and discussion groups
on youth issues, we raise the level of awareness about the youth in our area.
- Court Advocacy for Juveniles
- When a juvenile has no available advocate, we are there.
- Crisis Intervention
- We provide interventions regarding drugs/alcohol, child abuse/neglect,
homelessness, suicide attempts, emotional turmoil etc.
- We have 24 HOUR TELEPHONE AVAILABILITY
- All calls are completely confidential.
- Drug and Alcohol Education Groups
- Informational sessions conducted at local schools
- Host Home Program
- We provide short-term emergency shelter for youth.
- Child Advocates
- School, Court, and community advocates for youth.
- Young Parents Program
- Assisting young men & women in parenting and job training.
- Discussion Groups for All Ages
