For
Social Responsibility
We value our role as a member of
the communities that we serve. Our commitment to providing membership
and services to all, regardless of ability to pay, underscores
everything that we do.
Some of our featured services to
the community include:
- Literacy Program
An army of volunteers works with both children and adults to ensure
that they have the reading and English language skills necessary to
succeed in today's world. To volunteer, contact our Program Coordinator,
Marilyn Bresson.
- Winchester Youth Service Bureau
The Winchester Youth Service
Bureau is housed in the Winsted Branch of the Northwest CT YMCA
and offers many services to the youth and families of the Winsted/Winchester
area.
- Homeless Shelter
Our six rooms, with a combined 17 available beds, offer a short-term
respite for families, couples and individuals suffering through difficult
times. Our Housing Supervisor, Bruce
Mochan, works with our guests and helps them on the road to securing
housing of their own.
- Resident Rooms
Tenants in our 15 rooms benefit from their close ties to the YMCA
in many ways, including full membership to our facility.
